The Meaning of MY Life

We really don't experience the world fully because we're half asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do... Since young I have been experiencing the taste of success without any hardwork. When I was in my primary school and secondary school, I did not know what was meant as a be a hardworking student. In fact I did not even know how to study (Do you believe it?!?) To me study was just to open a book in front and read what was inside of it. All I know was to have fun and played as much as I could. Even during my O' Levels I did not study and just like this got into a polytechnic...

As most students would know, being in the polytechnic requires a certain degree of disipline. (Which I am lack of) And so I played on and on. But before I know it, I found out that my grades were dropping like flies ( I did not even bother to go for my Sub papers) It was till a point that I decided to quit school (do my parents a favour) and go on to the working society. When I was working, I often worked 12 to 14 hours straight just to earned enough to survive. It was tough and I didn't like what I was doing but who could I blame? No one... My parents had always let me do what I want and told me that I am old enough to decide whats good for myself and don't regret what I choose... I was working for 1 year and realise that I acheive nothing, I didn't like what I was doing and I learn nothing that I love. It was then I has this thought "I think I am wasting my life..."

I was called to do my National Service. Luck was on my side and I got posted to the Police (Doing national service in the police is more relax). During my time as a policeman I realise how realistic this society was. There were many incidents that made me realise that Singapore or rather the world is no fairy tale. And that in order for one to survive in this realistic society, one must have the required knowledge. And to do what one love, one must work hard to attain it, it does not come easy. There and then I enrolled into night classes to retake my O' Levels. I worked hard so that I could do what I love. I remembered, when I was young, I had always love to discover things, opening out electrical appliances to look what was inside and finding out reasons . My grandfather was an engineer and he often talked me about how fun being an engineer was.

After I got my results (which were slight better, I had to work and study...), I got into Nanyang Polytechnic. This was the first time I got to know what fun study meant. Never in my life have I thought that knowing stuffs can be so interesting (Some were boring though). I did better this time in my polytechnic.

To me the meaning of life is to find what you love to do. Some may find it earier in their life, some may find it later. Some may forgot halfway and some just know what they want. Ever since I got to do what I love, though there maybe ups and downs, my life have been more forcus because I have a goal... A goal that I love doing.... ( Though I sometimes need to remind myself to work hard)
